Il Podere

In the heart of Friuli Venezia Giulia, a picturesque region in northeast Italy, lies "Il Podere," our client’s cherished family estate. Over the years, the property had become fragmented, reflecting the family’s growth and history. Now, our client dreams of reuniting these pieces to create a home at the heart of this revitalized legacy.

Through thoughtful study and collaboration, we discovered the perfect site for the new residence: a 150-year-old stable, weathered but rich with character. Together, we envisioned dismantling the old structure and reusing its original stones and materials to craft a modern barn-inspired villa. Overlooking the estate’s future olive groves and the river that crosses the property, the home is designed to blend harmoniously with its surroundings while honoring its historical roots.

The villa brings all living spaces to the ground floor, with expansive glazing and glass openings creating a seamless connection to the outdoors. This design invites the natural beauty of the landscape to flow into the home. Built in wood and clad with the original stones, the structure reflects the estate’s heritage while embracing a contemporary aesthetic.

Beyond the main residence, additional barn-style structures will complete the vision, forming a harmonious symphony across the estate. These buildings will house a greenhouse, a scenic viewpoint overlooking a pond, and a machinery shed. An outdoor swimming pool will further enhance the property, ensuring a perfect balance of functionality and beauty.

Currently in the permitting stage, "Il Podere" represents more than just architecture—it’s the realization of a dream. This estate is being reborn, reflecting its owner’s aspirations and preserving a legacy for generations to come.
