Our client purchased an incredible piece of land on a hill in Plakias, Crete, offering sweeping views of a picturesque bay and the sunset. The site was initially home to a small, aging bungalow, but with such potential, we decided to start from scratch and demolish the existing structure.

The design brief called for a minimalist and clean aesthetic, with a focus on elegant simplicity. The goal was to create a home that reflected the client’s achievements while providing a warm, inviting atmosphere. The design incorporates modern lines and minimalistic forms, placing emphasis on natural materials and the beauty of the surrounding landscape.

We conceived an elevated ground floor, characterized by sleek, straight walls and a clean, geometric layout. The first-floor volume, which sits atop the base, is clad in natural wood, bringing a sense of warmth and texture to the design while maintaining a minimalist tone.

Thanks to the sloping topography of the site, the ground floor opens up to expansive, open-plan living spaces, all designed to maximize the stunning views. Large windows and glass doors seamlessly connect the interior with the outdoor spaces, where an infinity pool and landscaped garden create a smooth transition to the landscape. At DMA, we ensure that greenery complements the design, and in this project, carefully selected plants and trees were integrated into the design to enhance the sense of tranquility and connection to nature.

The upper level houses three bedroom suites, with the master suite positioned to take full advantage of the breathtaking sea views. The thoughtful design allows the client to wake up each morning to the sight of the bay, just by opening the bedroom shutters.

The basement accommodates the garage and service areas, ensuring all functional needs are met.

Currently, the project is in the approval stage, awaiting the green light before we proceed with planning application. This project is a testament to the client’s vision—a contemporary, minimalist home that seamlessly blends with the natural surroundings, offering both comfort and elegance while staying true to DMA’s focus on design that connects with nature.
